WORSHIP NEWS
WELCOME NEWCOMERS
You are welcome to join us at the communion rail when it is time to receive Holy Communion. Our ushers and any member are happy to assist if you have any questions during our worship. Jesus loves you! We are glad you are here.

Stewardship is Alive at CHS!In preparation for Thanksgiving Day through Christ’s Birthday and the start of the New Year, we take this time to reassess our lives, our blessings, and the gifts God gives each one of us on a daily basis. We evaluate our personal Stewardship and how we can grow in the coming year. We consider our dedication to our church community and what it will take to sustain and grow in the coming year. Stay tuned! For Newcomers and Members seeking to know more about the structure of our church, our budgeting process, how to become a member, how to get more involved, we have a meeting set for Oct 12, between the two services starting at 9:30am. We will meet inside the red doors off the parking lot.

YOUTH
Attention Youth:
Mark your calendars for Oct 19 & 26! On Oct 19, we’ll make our 4th Annual pilgrimage to Shady Lane Ranch to ride horses and have a camp fire after church. Youth grades 5 through 12 and adult chaperones are welcome. Then, on Oct 26, we’ll hold our annual visit to Bellevue Berry/Pumpkin Patch for an early evening campfire and scary ride. This event is open to all CHS children, provided they are accompanied by an adult. Details will follow soon. Fall is sure to be fun at CHS! Questions? COMMUNICATIONS
Be Bold!!
Join the Greeting Ministry!! Members of this ministry connect with people by making them feel welcomed as they enter church. The goal is to welcome every single person who walks through the door with a warm handshake and smile. You can sign up on the clipboard located on the clipboard table. The time commitment is minimal: a briefing on the new greeter process and being “at the door” 15 minutes prior to the service you signed up for. Make a difference in someone’s life today!

Calling all bakers, candy makers and crafters. Do you have a special craft, special holiday cookie or sweet you would love to share, then please contact Karen Sterzer with your recipe or volunteer to help with our first “HOLIDAY EXPRESS” to be held at the Church of the Holy Spirit on November 1. We will be making Christmas cookies, candy bark, fudge, fruitcakes, breads, and many other holiday sweet treats, as well as treats for the pets using our “new kitchen”. I am hoping this will be a great fund-raiser for our church and I will be advertising with pictures of our volunteers. More information to follow as we get closer to October, but please let me know if you would like to participate in the baking or have recipes to share. Contact Karen Sterzer at 597-8779.

Younker’s Community Day is November 15. Our church is going to continue with the fund raiser sponsored by Younkers at Oakview Mall. We can start selling the books now! The books which we sell for five dollars, has a ten dollar coupon in it for the purchaser and the church gets to keep the entire five dollars. So, if anyone would like to take some to work or have neighbors or friends who might be interested in buying them, let Karen Sterzer know. Younkers also allows us to sell in the store and if we sell over fifty books, we can receive a percentage of the money from the books sold by Younkers up to the event. P.S. you can shop early and pick up your packages any day on or after November 15, when Christmas will be right around the corner! If we sell just 200 books, the church will make $1,000.

Our prayers of thanksgiving are offered with those who are celebrating birthdays this week, especially: D’anna Smith, D.J. Tuttle (Oct 9), Della Wilson (11).

The Nave and Chapel Presence Candles for the month of October were given to the glory of God and in thanksgiving for the many blessings they have received, by David & Kitty Kentsmith.

The Nave and Chapel Altar Flowers were given to the glory of God and in memory of Blake Wade Kentsmith by the Kentsmith family.
