Diocese of Nebraska - Holy S.W.A.T.
"Severe Weather Assistance Teams"
To the People of God in the Diocese of Nebraska
A group of 5 did an advance trip to Cedar Rapids on Monday. The dry wall from 15 of the apartment units had been taken down and we were able to assist in shoveling the pieces out of the complex.
Before, I go to the details of our next steps, I ask for your prayers for all affected by the flood.
We have determined that Friday, July 4th and Saturday, July 5th will be our best option for a diocesan response for HOLY SWAT. For those who are able to stay the entire weekend - we will have a plan for that as well.
At this time we will plan on assisting "Heart of Iowa." We anticapte that the work there will include some concentrated effort to ready the Program Building for use and to repair the playground.
Local hotels are currently not an option because they are being used for temporary shelters.
We will have a place to stay - most likely a church parish hall or something like this. For those of you that have "comfort prayers" please start praying them now to assist us in finding places to stay.
Everyone that wants to come is welcome. We believe that all have gifts to offer. We will be able to use you!
Those coming who have construction skills, please let us know ASAP so that we can incorportate this into a plan.
Let us move forward in strength as the people of the Diocese of Nebraska. God's Spirit is present and with us.
Blessings,
Ernesto Medina

Thank You From Kristi
Thanks to all who fed me during my first two weeks at home. It took a huge burden off Heidi and Steve. The food was all so good and all things I could eat! I am improving daily and I find that exercising and watching everything I put in my mouth is no longer an issue. (It’s a change I should have made years ago). Thanks for all the cards and notes and pictures from the kids. I can’t imagine what going through this would be like without my church family. An extraordinary group of people, I am truly blessed to be a part of the “Holy Spirit”. Thanks again, Kristi
