This Sunday's Old Testament lesson is about Noah and his ark. Larry suggested that I do the Bill Cosby monologue about Noah! Do you
remember that? I don't plan on doing that but I will be telling the
story of Noah to the children right at the beginning of the sermon time so we'll have the children gather around for that.
Don't forget to bring your items for the Rummage Sale this Sunday (or by at least Thursday). Also the youth will be having a bake sale to help with costs for summer programs like EYE (Episcopal Youth Event) and Camp Comeca. Anyone going into 4th grade and older can go to camp! More information on that soon. If you can donate any baked goods, that would be gratefully appreciated.
Blessings, Mother Ruth
Third Sunday after Pentecost

COMMUNICATIONS
From Tracy Wells, CHS intern (2006-07)
Hi CHS folks! I have some great news to share: I have just completed the young adult discernment process in the Diocese of Atlanta and have been recommended for postulancy and ordination to the priesthood. I will meet with the Commission on Ministry and the bishop in the fall. Continued prayers are appreciated, and many thanks to CHS for nurturing my fledgling call to ministry throughout my time as your intern last year. I am forever indebted to this parish for setting me on the path toward priesthood. You can reach me at tjwells@gmail.com or 404.229.0997 if you want to get in touch. Blessings to you all!

Attention Leaders
If you like to demonstrate leadership and make a difference, then a position on the CHS Vestry IS FOR YOU! We have two of our most established ministries that are in need of Vestry representation and leadership: Building (currently open) and Pastoral Care (an early transition to free Karen Sterzer up to become our 2009 Treasurer). As the Vestry representative for one of these ministries, you will oversee and become a liaison for a team of already established ministry volunteers. The Building team plan for and take care of CHS building needs and the Pastoral team contribute their support for funerals, for hospitalized and home bound parishioners and provide other forms of pastoral care. The Vestry meets one evening per month for two hours and is a wonderful group of leaders to work with. Please see Chris Darrell, Dean Olander, Karen Sterzer or any other Vestry person for more information.
Our prayers of thanksgiving are offered with those who are celebrating birthdays this week, especially: Kristi Hazelip, Howard Tarleton (Jun 1), Kitty Kentsmith (2), Rosemary Brazis, Charlene Smith, Toby Wingert (3), Kathy Buser, Angela Byrne (5), Kathleen Birk (7).
Our prayers of thanksgiving are also offered with those who are celebrating wedding anniversaries this week, especially: Ham & Louise Hamilton (Jun 4).
